FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I get my photos to you?
A: There are several ways that you can get your photos to us depending on the type of photos that you have.  If you only have prints, then you will need to safely mail them to us.  If you can, you should always make copies of your photos.  If your photos are digitally saved, then you can mail them to us on a disk, or email if there are not too many.  If you are doing a custom scrapbook that has a bunch of photos that needs to get to us, then I would suggest opening a photo account through snapfish (or whatever company you prefer) that allows you to upload all of the digital photos at one time, and then email them with ease.

Q: How long will it take to complete my custom scrapbook?
A: This will depend on how many pages and photos your order consists of.  Generally, a 20 page 12 x 12 custom scrapbook will take 3-4 weeks to complete.

Q: What if I don't live local, can I hire you to custom design my scrapbook?
A: Yes, thanks to the internet, we are able to offer our services outside of our immediate area.  We can ship anywhere in the United States and we can speak on the phone or through email to obtain all of the important information about the scrapbook.  We have designed a very detailed order form that allows us to obtain your information while making it easy for you to organize your album.

Q: Do I have to order a whole album?
A: No, you don't.  We offer our designing services for single pages, two page layouts, mini albums, or a whole album.  That choice is up to you.  We also offer packages that allow you to scrapbook a couple of pages a month so that you can eventually have an entire album, without the entire cost up front.

Q: What is traditional scrapbooking vs. digital scrapbooking?
A: Traditional scrapbooking are pages creating using acid free and lignin free materials like cardstock, patterned paper, fibers, embellishments, etc.  They are cut and glued to create the pages giving it a three dimensional look and feel.  Digital scrapbooking is created 100% on the computer using most of the same items, patterned papers, fiber, embellishments, but digitally created to look like like there is dimension with shadows and embossing, but the paper is actually flat.  Both can be combined as well.

Q: Will you be cutting my original photos?
A: If you order a traditional album, then yes, we will be using your originals.  You will need to sign off that it is ok for Studio 9 Scrapbooks to crop the photos.  We do have options for you though, if you can do it yourself, then you should only send copies and keep your originals.  If you are unable to scan them yourself, then we offer scanning services that allow us to use the copies made from your originals and they would be returned to you along with a disk of them.  There is a fee for scanning.

Q: Does an album come with my custom scrapbook, or can I use my own?
A: Yes, when you order a custom scrapbook package, an album is included.  If you choose to use your own album, then you can, but will need to make sure that it is a safe album to store your pages in.  I will need to obtain all of the details about the album including size, color, etc.  There are no price reductions if you choose to use your own album.

Q: What is journaling and am I required to include it in my scrapbook?  What are titles?
A: Journaling is the detailed description or story that goes along with the photos.  I would recommend that you include as much journaling as possible for each page.  They tell your story and will be read over and over in the future allowing you to recall as much as you can about the special event.  We can generate your journaling on the computer, or you can request places for you to handwrite your journaling once the scrapbook is completed.  Another page option is to include titles.  A title is a couple of words describing a page.  An example for a wedding scrapbook with titles would be, The Reception, Cutting The Cake, Saying I Do, or The Honeymoon.  They tell you what you are going to be seeing on that page.  Each page is not required to have a title though.

Q: I would like to have an album done as a gift, but I do not have the photos, can I do that?
A: Yes, you can.  We can create the album while leaving the appropriate spaces for photos and they can be added at a later date.
